Hallow’s Eve

and on this night we dance and burn and carry
     long
into the night on shadows and ghosts that are
     gone
on a howling wind of cold fear with some
     song
of dreams and spirits of wicked night not
     wrong
to be caught in the fever of the leaves’ whisper
     strong
for frightened excitement on this all Hallow’s Eve
