Scorned Again

One more time
	One more time
	One more time
my heart, dangling on a line
	feeding
waiting beasts below
	ravishing
my soul
	devouring
my life

One at a time
	One at a time
	One at a time
bright lights, bedazzling rhyme
	showered
to strengthen me, then . . .
	banished
so I can’t see
	voided
so I can’t feel

Whimsical
	fleeting
	I was but dreaming

Once in my life
	Once in my life
	Once in my life
something more than a strife
	a misfire
the sparkle of love -- a mirage
	a misgiving
I would like to be more than just living
	sorrow
		my pain
	conquest
		women . . . laughing

The limelight
	the joy

but I woke up

	to be . . .
